Into the Chaos

As a self-funded, volunteer-staff operation, Chaos and Ink Books takes a Punk DIY stance towards publishing. We want to collaborate with authors who have an interesting and engaging story to tell but maybe don’t have the resources to tackle the publishing journey on their own. All services are handled in-house on a limited budget with creative solutions and determined spirit. Each member is dedicated to the craft and feels passionately about the stories we represent. Our goal is low-budget, high-quality and we take that goal seriously.

We are the Goblins of publishing and we thrive on Chaos.

Chaos and Ink Books was founded on the idea that storytelling is a fundamental block of basic human society and should not be confined by commercial strictures. Rules for storytelling should be treated like guidelines and not absolute musts. The story itself is more important than any arbitrary marketing tactics defined by genre conventions and tropes.

Disillusioned by the classism and gatekeeping systemically funneling the traditional publishing industry into producing cookie-cutter novels over and over again, Chaos and Ink Books seeks to make publishing accessible for those who do not fit the standard traditional mold, who mix genres, flip tropes, and tell stories that make us question the status quo. We want to give a place to  stories that don’t fit into the standardized, commercial book space. We want to give readers new favorites to indulge in again and again.

Every human has the ability to imagine, and the potential to create stories that make us laugh, cry, or simply wonder why. The most entertaining books dazzle the mind and tickle the imagination. Freedom of the creative soul is for everyone, and we all deserve better stories and a place to tell them. The most powerful tales hold unique viewpoints, foster inclusivity and the beauty of our differences, woven through authentic storytelling. Chaos and Ink Books wants to help bring those tales to light.

Books teach. Non-fiction teaches you how to do a thing; fiction teaches you how to be human.
